From the courtroom to Wall Street, Jim Ronan has over 40 years experience handling high stakes litigation and advising clients on complicated financial transactions. As a trial lawyer, Ronan has successfully tried scores of cases through to verdict at the state and federal level, and been involved in landmark appellate cases ranging from social host liability to unfair business practices. Recognized for his integrity and fairness, Ronan has served as court-appointed mediator for Suffolk, Middlesex, and Essex Superior Courts. As a neutral arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, he has decided more than 100 cases. Ronan is also an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). A former Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, Ronan is acknoledged as one of the industry's leading experts in restricted securities, including complex derivative and hedging strategies.

In Massachusetts, the Ronan name has long been synonymous with the highest standards of legal community: his grandfather (and namesake), the Honorable James Joseph Ronan was an Associate Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court from 1938-1959. His father, the Honorable John T. Ronan was an Associate Justice of the Superior Court from 1973-1993. His uncle, James T. Ronan and brother, John H. Ronan were partners in the Salem law firm of Ronan, Segal and Harrington.
In recognition of the family's contribution to the legal community, each year the Essex Bar Association awards a distinguished attorney with its most prestigious prize: Ronan Family Jurisprudence Award .
In the majority of cases, Ronan acts as trial counsel on behalf of referring law firms when a case has hit a roadblock, become stagnant,
or simply cannot be settled.
Ronan is also available to serve as a neutral at the agreement of the parties.
