Lawsuits are expensive in terms of time and money. We aim to be as efficient as possible with our client's resources. Often we take cases based on an hourly fee, which is negotiated with the client. There are some cases we may take on a "contingency" basis, where we receive a portion of any sum recovered; and only receive a fee if successful. 

The legal field is vast and complicated.  As a result, most lawyers specialize in a particular area of the law, and most never actually try cases in court. Sometimes you need a lawyer who can fight for your case in court. Someone who can level the field.
